Darwin … just the airport ;)

Darwin

It was definitely a short trip! Too short since it was only a transit :) – Arrived and filled up an immigration card and went for a luggage check and waited for the plane to fly to Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon. I can’t really say that I have been to Darwin, at least I have waited at Darwin Airport. he he :) . I only took 1 picture of the airport and it was from the distance too hehehe – i know sorry!, at least you could see how the airport looks like from the plane ;) . Darwin is not one of those big cities that is filled with man-made buildings, from above, it looks quite nice as the sky was blue and lots of boats in the water! Beautiful!

The airport is very small and there is not much to see or do besides going to the loo he he he and duty free of course. So yeah…

Tips: well, I’m gonna have to leave it blank since, I didn’t really experience Darwin as a traveler should! ;) – I like having my iPhone when waiting at the airport so I could listen to my music while waiting or facebook ;)

Newcastle, NSW Australia

Newcastle, Australia

If you live in Sydney, like me :) , you might wanna do a day trip where you can refresh yourself from your daily activities and the city life. Perhaps Newcastle is a worth place to check out. It only takes about 2 and a half hour drive from Sydney CBD by car and if you are not in a hurry, You might want to stop for scenic lookouts on the way to Newcastle and i encourage you to do so.

These photos were taken at one the lookouts in Newcastle (would love to let you know its name, but I don’t remember!) :) – it was rainy that day but it was absolutely beautiful, rainbows were just everywhere! I have never seen so many rainbows at 1 place! Just gorgeous! So travelers both overseas and locals, 1 day would be enough to do the trip if you are in Sydney and I personally think that 1 day is just enough to do the whole thing.

Tips: perhaps a map and would be handy to have and you might want to rent a car as you would get more freedom.

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Sydney Harbour Bridge is another reason why you should come and visit Sydney! This bridge was opened on March 19th 1932, by the premier Jack Lang. The bridge took 6 years to build. During new year’s eve, this bridge is packed with fire works and most of you probably have seen it either on television or live on how it looks like! Absolutely amazing I must say :) . You could also climb the bridge during the day and night and just enjoy the moment. Although it is pricey to do it, but hey – it is once in a life time right?

Photographers seem to like to take lots and lots of pictures of this bridge (including myself! :) ). So if you are a traveler, spend some time in cirqular quay where you could find nice restaurants, Sydney Opera House, the Harbour Bridge itself, and lots more! it is easily accessed by either bus or train.

Tips: Again, having your camera handy is very important and take some time there, do not rush yourself, enjoy the moment, sit down, relax, get yourself an ice cream or something :) . Pamper yourself.

Sydney Opera House

Sydney Opera House

Personally, Sydney Opera House is one of my favorite landmarks in Australia. I LOVE IT!! I seriously do, I just never got bored looking at it. It does not matter when I go there during the day or at night, rainy days or not, it is still SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE and it is still beautiful (I think anyway). :)

The surrounding place is a great place for meeting friends or your other half ;) as they offer great range of restaurants (from McDonald’s to a posh restaurant like Cafe Sydney), shops (I do not really buy stuff there to be honest he..he..he $), but if you have some extra cash – why not??, it is definitely a good place for shopping.

Tips: well there is nothing really, just make your way there (there are lots of buses going that direction, if you are lost, ask for a map at information or you can do it the old-fashion way which is asking a question to a local :) ) and if you fancy a show at Sydney Opera House, check out what’s on!

Mt. Wellington

Mt. Wellington

Many of you know that it is almost impossible to find big and high mountains in Australia, as the land is so flat but they have so many nice places to look at nonetheless. On the other hand, it is a different reality if you visit Hobart in Tasmania, as you could experience a great view from the top of Mt. Wellington overlooking the city of Hobart. From the CBD (or down town), it takes about 30 minutes (more less) to get to the mountain by car. It is definitely something that you must do when you visit Hobart. The view from the top is absolutely stunning and you do not want to miss it.

Mt. Wellington

Tips: During winter season, you could see snow on the tip of Mt. Wellington and it is beautiful! So make sure you have your camera handy. Jetstar and Virgin Blue often have some special deals to Tasmania. So keep checking and you might be lucky enough to fly to Tasmania for absolutely nothing! Also, I find that renting a car cheaper than joining a tour (again depending on how many people you are traveling with) – but do check out Avis or Europ Car for rates (make sure you find out if they have any special deals with the airline you are flying with)

If you have more experience about your trip in Tasmania, please leave a comment on this post. :)

Tasmanian Devil

Tasmanian Devil

A Tasmanian Devil or a short for Taz Devil is originally from Tasmania, Australia hence the name! If you are planning a trip to Tasmania, you will easily find these cute-yet-they-could-and-probably-will-hurt-you-bad marsupials! Although I doubt that you will find them on the road or in the wild as they are active at night times, but you never know perhaps you will see one on the road or during a bush walk, who knows? But don’t worry, you could easily visit one of the parks in Tasmania and see them there which what I did.

According to the park guy, Tasmanian Devil has one of the strongest jaw for its kind and it is almost as strong as a crocodile!! Can’t you imagine that? These cute looking things could actually break your body into pieces, well I doubt that that will happen since they are probably scared of you more.

BAD NEWS – A devastating disease is sweeping through Tasmania’s devil population, killing more than 90% of adults in high density areas and 40-50% in medium-low density areas.  (according to Parks and Wildlife Service Tasmania). For more details, you could visit http://www.tassiedevil.com.au
